Pancha-anga: five limbs. Each Hindu day is described not by one number but by five interlocking rhythms of the Sun and Moon. Read together, they are the day's cosmic fingerprint.
The weekday, each ruled by a planet: Sun (Sunday), Moon (Monday), Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn. The presiding planet colors the day's energy.
One of 27 lunar mansions: the asterism the Moon occupies on its monthly journey. Each nakshatra carries a ruling deity, planet, and distinct quality.
The auspiciousness index: the combined longitude of the Sun and Moon divided into 27 named parts, ranging from Vishkambha to Vaidhriti.
The half-tithi: each lunar day split into two karanas. Of 11 karanas (7 recurring, 4 fixed), each half-day carries its own quality for starting activities.
