பொய்கையாழ்வார் · ಐಪ್ಪಸಿ, ಶ್ರವಣ
Poigai Alwar, the first of the three Mudhal Alwars, appeared in a lotus in the temple pond at Thiruvehka in Kanchipuram. On a rainy night at Thirukkovalur he sheltered in a narrow passage with Bhoothath Alwar and Pey Alwar, and they felt a fourth presence: the Lord Himself.
Taking the earth as the lamp, the ocean as the oil and the sun as the flame, he sang Mudhal Thiruvandhadhi, the first hundred verses of the Divya Prabandham.
