திருமங்கையாழ்வார் · কাৰ্তিকাই, কৃত্তিকা
Thirumangai Alwar, born Neelan, was a chieftain of Thirumangai. To marry Kumudavalli he vowed to feed devotees every day, and when his wealth ran out he took to robbing travellers. When he waylaid the Lord Himself, who came as a bridegroom at Thiruvali, the Lord taught him the Thirumantra and transformed him.
He composed the largest number of verses among the Alwars after Nammalwar, sang of very many Divya Desams, and is remembered for the walls and service he gave at Srirangam.
