Thirumazhisai Alwar studied many faiths before Pey Alwar led him to Sriman Narayana, and Rudra named him Bhaktisarar, the essence of devotion. When the king banished his disciple Kanikannan from Kanchipuram, the Alwar left too and asked the Lord of Thiruvehka to roll up His serpent bed and come along, and the Lord did.
That Lord is therefore called Sonna Vannam Seida Perumal, the Lord who did as He was told.
