Thondaradippodi Alwar Thirunakshatram 2027: January 5, Mount Vernon

Thondaradippodi Alwar, born Vipranarayana at Thirumandangudi, served Sri Ranganatha at Srirangam by tending a flower garden and making garlands. He fell for a time under the influence of Devadevi, and the Lord Himself rescued him through the episode of the golden vessel.

Humbled, he took the name Thondaradippodi, the dust at the feet of the devotees. His Thiruppalliyezhuchi, sung to wake the Lord, is recited at Srirangam and in homes during Margazhi.
