Sūrya Kumbha rāśi-tē praveśa karā sandhyā-tē Śukla Chaturdaśī: Chidambaram-ē Naṭarāja-r choy pavitra abhiṣēka dina-r ēkṭi
Māci Caturdaśī is one of the six annual Abhiṣekam days observed for Lord Naṭarāja at the Cidambaram Temple, together known as Śrī Naṭarāja Abhiṣekam. It falls in the Tamil month of Māci, on the Śukla Caturdaśī tithi that prevails at dusk, while the Sun transits Kumbha rāśi.
Māci is itself associated with several major Śaiva observances, including Mahā Śivarātri and Māsi Māgham: Māci Caturdaśī at Cidambaram sits within this same sacred month, marking Lord Naṭarāja's evening abhiṣekam for the Kumbha solar transit, and completes the annual cycle of the six Naṭarāja Abhiṣekam days.
Devotees mark the day with a special dusk abhiṣekam of Lord Naṭarāja, along with recitation of Tēvāram and Tiruvācakam hymns.
