A brahmin of Thingalur who revered Appar without having met him, and named his children, water booths and charities after Thirunavukkarasu.
When Appar came to his house to eat, Appoothi's eldest son, also named Thirunavukkarasu, died of a snake bite while cutting a plantain leaf. The parents hid their grief, but Appar learnt of it, sang a hymn to Shiva, and the boy rose alive.
