The chief of the fishermen of Nagapattinam, who released the first fish of every catch back into the sea as an offering to Shiva, even on days when he caught only one fish and went hungry.
One day the only catch was a golden fish studded with gems, and he gave it to the sea as always. Shiva appeared in the sky and took him to His abode.
