A devotee of Karuvur who carried an axe to protect Shiva's devotees. When the state elephant of King Pugazh Chola scattered the flowers that the devotee Sivakamiandar was carrying for Shiva's worship, Eripatha killed the elephant and its keepers.

The king offered his own sword to be punished, and Eripatha turned it on himself instead. Shiva's voice stopped them both, and the elephant and its keepers rose alive.
