A Vellala chief of the Eyarkudi family of Thiruperumangalam and a commander of the Chola army. He was angered to hear that Sundarar had sent Shiva as his messenger to Paravaiyar.
Shiva struck him with colic and said only Sundarar could cure it; rather than accept that, Kalikamar cut himself with his sword. Sundarar arrived and, grieving, was about to follow him, when Shiva restored Kalikamar to life and the two became friends.
