A Pallava king who conquered northern kings and ruled by dharma. At Tiruvarur, his queen picked up a flower that had fallen near the flower hall of the temple and smelled it, and the devotee Seruthunaiyar punished her for it.

Hearing this, the king said the hand that picked up the flower was the first to offend, and cut off that hand himself. The devotees praised his zeal, and he attained Shiva's feet.
