A Pandya king of Madurai who had followed Jainism. When he fell gravely ill with a burning fever, Thirugnana Sambandar cured him with holy ash, and his hunched back was made straight.
He returned to the Shaiva faith with his queen Mangayarkarasi and minister Kulachirai, won the battle of Nelveli, and ruled long in Shiva's service.
