A Vellala of Thiruchangamangai who became a Buddhist at Kanchipuram, but came to understand that Shiva alone is the truth. Keeping his Buddhist robes, he threw a stone at a Shiva Linga each day as his act of worship, before he ate.

One day he forgot, and rushed back hungry to throw his stone. Shiva appeared with Uma on the bull and took him to His abode.
