Born at Sirkazhi to Sivapada Hrudayar and Bhagavathiyar, at the age of three he was fed the milk of wisdom by Uma and at once sang "Thodudaiya Seviyan". He sang hymns at shrines across the land.
At Madurai, invited by Queen Mangayarkarasi and minister Kulachirai, he cured the Pandya king with holy ash and restored the Shaiva faith. At his wedding at Nallur Perumanam he entered the divine light with all who were present.
