Thirumula Nayanar Guru Puja 2026: October 25, Mount Vernon

A yogi from Kailasa, a disciple of Nandi, who on his way south found the cowherd Moolan of Sathanur dead and his cows grieving. Out of compassion he entered Moolan's body and took the cows home.

Staying on as Thirumular at Thiruvavaduthurai, he sat in deep meditation and composed the Thirumandiram, one verse each year, three thousand verses in all, before returning to Shiva.
