Shravana Krishna Navami (Bhadrapada Krishna Navami, purnimant): honouring Gogaji, protector from snakebite
Gugga Navami (also called Goga Navami) falls on the ninth day of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) of the lunar month Shravana, as reckoned by the amanta calendar (the same lunar day purnimant calendars, which count months by full moon, name Bhadrapada Krishna Navami).
The day is dedicated to Gogaji, also known as Gugga Pir or Jaharveer Gogaji, a folk deity venerated across North India, primarily in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, western Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, as a protector against snakebite.
