Kartika Shukla Chaturthi: worship of the Naga devatas
Nagula Chavithi is a Naga (serpent) worship observance falling on Kartika Shukla Chaturthi, primarily kept in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as the Kartika-masa counterpart to Shravana's Naag Panchami. Devotees rise before sunrise and visit an anthill (believed to be a Naga's dwelling) or a snake idol, offering milk, turmeric, vermilion, and flowers, and praying for the family's protection and welfare.
Kartika masa is considered one of the most sacred months of the Hindu calendar, and Naga worship performed during it is held to bring the family lineage protection from snake-related harm, fertility, and general wellbeing.
