The appearance day of Lord Vishnu's Varaha avatar, for your city
Varaha Jayanti commemorates the appearance of Lord Vishnu as Varaha, the divine boar, the third of the Dashavatara. According to the Puranas, when the demon Hiranyaksha dragged the Earth (Bhudevi) to the depths of the cosmic ocean, Vishnu took the form of Varaha, slew Hiranyaksha, and lifted the Earth back to her place on his tusks. The observance falls in Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha, on Tritiya.
Varaha Jayanti Nirnaya, like most panchang determinations, has been interpreted somewhat differently across sampradayas over the centuries -- please follow the convention observed by your own family or tradition where it differs from what is shown here.
