Phālguna Śukla Dvitīyā: Śrī Kṛṣṇa kā puṣpotsava
Phulerā Dūj is observed on Phālguna Śukla Dvitīyā, the second day of the bright fortnight of Phālguna. The name comes from phūl, flower: on this day Śrī Kṛṣṇa is worshipped with flowers, and in the temples of Vraja the deity is adorned with fresh blossoms while devotees play Holī with flower petals.
Phulerā Dūj opens the joyful season that leads up to Holī. It is observed with bhajans, kīrtana and offerings of flowers and sweets to Śrī Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa.
