Sūrya Kanyā rāśi-tē praveśa karā sandhyā-tē Śukla Chaturdaśī: Chidambaram-ē Naṭarāja-r choy pavitra abhiṣēka dina-r ēkṭi
Puraṭṭāci Caturdaśī is one of the six annual Abhiṣekam days observed for Lord Naṭarāja at the Cidambaram Temple, together known as Śrī Naṭarāja Abhiṣekam. It falls in the Tamil month of Puraṭṭāci, on the Śukla Caturdaśī tithi that prevails at dusk, while the Sun transits Kanyā rāśi.
Puraṭṭāci is itself widely regarded as an auspicious month across Tamil Nadu, particularly associated with Perumāḷ (Viṣṇu) worship on its Saturdays: Puraṭṭāci Caturdaśī at Cidambaram sits within this same sacred month, marking Lord Naṭarāja's evening abhiṣekam for the Kanyā solar transit.
Devotees mark the day with a special dusk abhiṣekam of Lord Naṭarāja, along with recitation of Tēvāram and Tiruvācakam hymns.
