A sankalpa is the solemn resolve said before a puja, vrata, homa or any sacred act. It names the moment exactly: the cycle of time from Brahma's day down to the present samvatsara, ayana, ritu, masa, paksha, tithi, vasara, nakshatra, yoga and karana, the place on the earth where it is done, and who does it, of which gotra, and for what purpose.
The text above is for the city and day shown. Fill in your gotra, name, rashi and nakshatra, or say them in place of the blanks; choose a purpose for a particular puja or vrata.
