Dvādaśī joined with Śravaṇa Nakṣatra, your city-r bābē
Śravaṇa Dvādaśī is observed when Dvādaśī in the bright fortnight (Śukla Pakṣa) of Bhādrapada combines with Śravaṇa Nakṣatra. When Ekādaśī, Dvādaśī, and Śravaṇa Nakṣatra all overlap together, with Śravaṇa directly touching both tithis, this forms Viṣṇu Śṛṅkhalā Yoga (Viṣṇu's Chain), and the fast is observed on the first of the two candidate days.
Otherwise, the day is decided by how much of the daytime (extending into the night only up to the end of the first Prahara) Dvādaśī and Śravaṇa Nakṣatra overlap: at least one muhūrta (2 ghaṭikās, 48 minutes) of overlap qualifies a day; if both candidate days qualify, the first day is taken.
Both Vaiṣṇavas and Smārtas observe this fast in place of a separate Ekādaśī fast on the Śravaṇa-joined Dvādaśī.
Śravaṇa Dvādaśī Nirṇaya, like most pañcāṅga determinations, has been interpreted somewhat differently across sampradāyas over the centuries. Please follow the convention observed by your own family or tradition where it differs from what is shown here.
