Sri Jayanti

Sri Jayanti, the Sri Vaishnava observance of Lord Krishna's birth, is computed differently by two independent traditions: the Munitraya Sampradaya and the Sri Sannidhi Sampradaya of Sri Ahobila Mutt. Both require the Sun in sidereal Simha (Leo) with Krishna Paksha Ashtami tithi and Rohini nakshatra, but apply different rule hierarchies for selecting the day when the two conditions don't align perfectly: they usually agree, but can differ by a day in some years.

Sun in Simha, Both Traditions
Both the Munitraya and Sri Sannidhi Sampradayas require the Sun in sidereal Simha (Leo): a Saura (solar) gate neither Smarta nor Vaishnava (ISKCON) Janmashtami calculations apply.

Munitraya Sampradaya
Uses a rule-priority cascade: Ashtami and Rohini can unite at sunrise, through the day and night, or at moonrise, with vedha (affliction) rules resolving which day to use when they don't.

Sri Sannidhi Sampradaya
Sri Ahobila Mutt's own independent lineage: every condition (Simha, Ashtami, Rohini, no vedha) must hold simultaneously on a single day, with zero tolerance for affliction, plus its own fallback sequence.
