About

Sudarśana Jayantī (Sauramāna)

Sudarśana Jayantī (also known in Tamil Nadu and Kerala as Āṇi-Cittiraiī) commemorates the Sudarśana Cakra, the discus of Bhagavān Viṣṇu, observed on Citrā nakṣatra with the Sun in Vṛṣabha rāśi.

The Sudarśana Cakra is venerated as Viṣṇu's foremost weapon and a symbol of protection and the destruction of evil, and this day is observed with prayers and worship of Viṣṇu in His Sudarśana form.
