Tai Kṛttikai 1975

Thai Krittigai (தை கிருத்திகை) is the day of the Krittika star in the Tamil month Thai. The six Krittika maidens nursed the infant Murugan in the lotus pond of Saravana, and every Krittika is his day; with Aadi Krittigai and Karthigai Deepam, the Krittika of Thai is among the greatest.

Devotees fast from the morning, carry kavadi and pal kudam, and climb to Thiruthani, Palani, Swamimalai, Thiruparankundram and the other abodes of the Lord. Lamps are lit at home in the evening, and the fast is broken after the night puja.
